The Driver Reviver campaign, aimed at reducing fatigue-related accidents on Australian roads, has been a long-standing initiative of the Australian Government. The campaign, run by dedicated volunteers, operates more than 180 rest stops across the country, providing free tea, coffee and biscuits to drivers to help them stay alert and focused during their travels.
Recently, the Driver Reviver campaign has implemented new signage on the NSW Road Network, examples of these pictured are the Medowie and Ourimbah rest areas on the M1 Motorway. The new signage features the Optimast® Frangible Sign Support Structure from Signfix, a leading provider of road safety products in Australia and were installed by G&B Signs and Services.
The Optimast® Frangible Sign Support Structure is designed to be passively safe, meaning it is engineered to break away in the event of a collision, reducing the risk of injury or death to motorists. The product range has been extensively tested by a leading FHWA testing facility and is MASH compliant and approved by Austroads Safety Barrier Assessment Panel (ASBAP) for use on Australia and New Zealand road networks. These signposts are also on the TfNSW Approved Safety Barriers specification.
The Optimast® Frangible Sign Support Structure is engineered for reliability and longevity, with an easy-to-install design that is both economical and quick to specify.
The implementation of the Optimast® Frangible Sign Support Structures for the Transport for NSW Driver Reviver project on the NSW Road Network is a significant step forward in road safety. By using MASH compliant signage, the Driver Reviver campaign is demonstrating a commitment to reducing the risk of accidents and injuries on the roads.
In addition to the Driver Reviver campaign, the Optimast® Frangible Sign Support Structure is suitable for use in a range of road safety applications. With its passively safe design and MASH compliance, the Optimast® Frangible Sign Support Structure is a reliable and effective solution for ensuring the safety of motorists on Australian roads.
